Renesas Electronics introduces industrial temperature grade DDR5 and DDR4 host clock drives

     Renesas Electronics Group has announced the launch of DDR5 (5RCD0148H) and DDR4 (4RCD0232K) host clock drives (RCD) for demanding edge computing, automotive, Industry 4.0 and 5G applications.

     The new product supports temperatures from as low as -40ºC to as high as 105ºC, and DDR5 speeds of 5,200mT /s and DDR4 speeds of 3,200mT /s, compared to products that normally operate in the 0 to 70ºC range. The new product delivers 2x channel speed, low latency and excellent power management, enabling DDR5 industrial temperature grade dual in-line memory modules (DIMMs) and memory particles to connect to the motherboard, while providing reliability for existing DDR4 applications over a wider temperature range.

     Rami Sethi, vice president and general manager of Renesas Electronics' data center business Group, said: "Emerging areas such as Smart Edge and Open Wireless Access Network (O-RAN), which fuse traditional computing and communication architectures, require server components that can withstand the harsh environment at the network edge. Renesas has worked with our partners to enable RCD products to support a wider range of temperatures for use in new markets."
