Renesas Electronics introduces new 32-bit RX72N and RX66N MCUS

     Renesas Electronics, a leading global provider of semiconductor solutions, announced the introduction of new members of the RX product family - the 32-bit RX72N product group and the RX66N product group, with a single chip that integrates device control and network connectivity. The RX72N is based on Renesas' proprietary RXv3 CPU core, with a maximum operating frequency of 240MHz and dual Ethernet channels. The RX66N has a maximum operating frequency of 120MHz and a single Ethernet channel.

     In the field of industrial equipment, the continuous upgrading of performance and functionality has led to the increasing size of program code. Therefore, storage capacity and read speed are key factors in determining real-time performance. The new RX72N and RX66N offer up to 4MB of on-chip flash memory for the industry's highest read frequency of 120MHz, along with 1MB of on-chip SRAM. Adequate on-chip storage eliminates the need for external memory to avoid slow read speeds and CPU-processing performance issues. In addition, the larger storage capacity enables high-resolution graphics, such as WVGA, on a single chip, which was not possible in earlier general-purpose MCUS.

     With the above powerful performance, it can be used in industrial robots, universal frequency converters, programmable logic controllers (PLCS) and remote I/O devices for device control and network connectivity with a single chip, thereby enhancing real-time performance, and thereby contributing to improving the design and operability of industrial automation equipment.
