Renesas Electronics introduces precision temperature sensors for DDR5 memory modules

     Renesas Electronics, a global leader in semiconductor solutions, announced the launch of the TS5111, a new precision temperature sensor for DDR5 memory modules and other applications that require accurate, real-time temperature monitoring, such as solid-state disks (SSDS), computing motherboards and communications devices. The new JEDEC (Solid State Technology Association) -compliant temperature sensor enables memory modules and other temperature-sensitive systems to operate efficiently and reliably with real-time, closed-loop thermal management algorithms.

     The TS5111 plays a key role in providing accurate, high-precision system temperatures with programmable warning signals, enabling the system to perform thermal control loop mechanisms such as memory refresh rate, fan speed, and bandwidth regulation. Measuring just 0.8mm x 1.3mm, the TS5111 is ideal for small systems and applications such as memory and storage modules where temperature monitoring is essential for reliable operation. The TS5111 supports I²C, SMBUS, and the new I3C Basic protocol, which supports data rates up to 12.5MHz and other advanced features such as in-band interrupts, parity, and packet error checking.

     The TS5111 is part of a full family of DDR5 solutions that will enable manufacturers to develop leading DDR5 DIMM solutions. Currently, Renesas DDR5 RDIMM ics include the register clock driver 5RCD0148HC1, the power management ICP8900, and the SPD hub SPD5118.
