Renesas Electronics introduces the RA6M4 MCU product group based on the Arm Cortex-M33

     Renesas Electronics Group announced the launch of nine new RA6M4 MCU products to expand its RA6 family of microcontrollers (MCUS), bringing the RA product family to 42 MCUS. The new 32-bit MCU uses the Arm® Cortex®-M33 core based on the Armv8-M architecture and supports TrustZone for performance up to 200 MHz. The RA6M4 MCU delivers optimized performance and leading-edge security and connectivity through an easy-to-use Flexible Configuration package (FSP). In addition, the Renesas partner ecosystem provides out-of-the-box hardware and software building blocks for RA6M4 MCUS and FSPS for applications such as Industry 4.0, building automation, metered-care and home appliances.

     The RA6M4 MCU features robust security, rich connectivity, low-power, high-capacity embedded RAM that supports parity /ECC, and Arm development tools and ecosystems to accelerate the development of smart iot edge devices. In addition to support for Arm TrustZone, Renesas' Enhanced Secure Encryption Engine provides outstanding security solutions, including multiple symmetric and asymmetric encryption accelerators, advanced key management, security lifecycle management, tamper detection, and enhanced resistance to bypass attacks. These integrated security features make the RA6M4 MCU ideal for networked applications and enable customers to implement lower BOM costs and secure chip capabilities in all their iot designs.

     The RA6M4 MCU is based on an efficient 40nm process and consumes as little as 99uA/MHz when running the CoreMark algorithm via flash memory. The MCU also incorporates a high-performance on-chip oscillator that supports a fast wake time of 30 µs in standby mode. The integration of up to 1MB of code flash and 256KB of SRAM (64KB of which supports ECC) makes the RA6M4 MCU ideal for low power and security applications.
