Renesas Electronics introduces the industry's first compatible clock generator

     Renesas Electronics today announced the introduction of a low-jitter 9SQ440 clock generator IC designed for next-generation Intel platforms in high-performance computing and data center applications. The latest addition to Renesas PCIe's extensive product line, the 9SQ440 is the industry's first CK440Q-compliant server clock generator. Developed for the Intel CK440Q specification and the requirements of future Intel Xeon processors, the 9SQ440 provides customers with a flexible, robust, high-performance synthesizer to meet the design challenges of PCIe Gen5.

     Customers can combine the 9SQ440 with Renesas' extensive range of PCIe clock solutions, including PCIe Gen5 clock buffers, infrastructure power supplies and smart power level (SPS) products to meet the needs of a complete data center solution.

     "The PCIe clock generator is at the heart of the PCIe clock functionality," said Bobby Matinpour, vice president of the Data Center Division of Renesas Electronics iot and Infrastructure Business Unit. With the specification requirements of the latest standards becoming more stringent, PCIe Gen5 compliant clock generators, such as the 9SQ440, provide customers with greater design flexibility and margin. "We are pleased to announce that Renesas is offering the industry's first serial-production products for devices supporting PCIe Gen5 and PCIe Gen6 with superior timing technology and IP."

     The 9SQ440 can be used as a central clock generator for server cpus and PCIe clocks. It has a total of 20 differential outputs and excellent jitter performance - PCIe Gen5 universal clock phase jitter of less than 50fs RMS to meet the clock requirements of a wide range of topologies from simple single-board dual-slot to complex modular multi-slot systems.
