
Renesas Electronics, the world's leading provider of semiconductor solutions, announced the launch of the next generation broadband millimeter wave synthesizer with industry performance and unique features optimized for 5G and broadband wireless applications. The flagship 8V97003 is ideal for local oscillators (LO) for millimeter wave and beamforming, as well as precise reference clocks for high-speed data converters, for a variety of applications such as test and measurement, optical networking and data acquisition.

"The 8V97003 delivers best-in-class performance in a single-chip architecture and is particularly suited for emerging applications with carrier frequencies above 6GHz, including wireless broadband, microwave backhaul and 5G communications."
The 8V97003 offers the industry's best combination of wide frequency range (171.875 MHz to 18 GHz), ultra-low output phase noise (-60.6dBc in the 6GHz carrier 20 kHz to 100 MHz integration region) and high output power over the entire frequency range. The wide frequency range allows users to replace multiple synthesizer modules with a single 8V97003, reducing the board area and cost of the solution. High output power eliminates the need for external drivers, further reducing complexity and overall power consumption without compromising performance.
Ultra-low output phase noise enables excellent system-level signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and vector amplitude error (EVM), making it an excellent choice for 5G and other wireless applications. As a reference clock for high-speed data converters, the 8V97003 maximizes system performance by improving SNR and spury-free dynamic range (SFDR).
