Renesas Electronics has partnered with Intel to launch a power management solution that delivers optimal battery efficiency for laptops powered by Intel's new Core Ultra 200V series processors. Renesas has worked closely with Intel to develop an innovative custom power management chip (PMIC) that fully addresses the power management needs of the latest generation of Intel processors. This advanced and highly integrated PMIC, combined with a pre-regulator and battery charger, provides a one-stop solution for PCS with new Intel processors. These three new devices work together to provide a tailored and efficient power solution for client laptops, especially those running high-power artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
The power management solutions announced today include the RAA225019 PMIC, the RAA489301 high efficiency preregulator and the ISL9241 battery charger with a feature set optimized for low-power mobile computing applications - Renesas' solution relies on a tested reference design and robust application support.
The RAA225019 PMIC is highly configurable for Lunar Lake applications and is equipped with a fully integrated power MOSFET and electric fluometric circuit. It supports high switching frequencies and is ideal for small size applications without sacrificing efficiency.
The RAA489301 preregulator is a 3-level buck converter designed to provide an optimized supply voltage range for the RAA225019 PMIC. Its innovative architecture improves thermal performance over traditional 2-level buck designs and supports a wide range of input and output voltages. This makes it extremely efficient in compact, high-power density applications, making it ideal for demanding power solutions.
