
With the advent of the new R&S NGM200, Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its product range of dedicated power supplies. The R&S NGM200 series power supply offers new features that make it ideal for developing battery-powered devices with voltages up to 20 V and currents up to 6 A.
As the same power family, both the R&S NGL200 and the R&S NGM200 series offer the same superior performance and specifications to provide extremely stable output with minimal residual ripple and noise. Thanks to the extremely fast load recovery time of less than 30us, the device can quickly switch from several uA in sleep mode to several A in work mode. With the dual-quadrant architecture, the power supply can be used as both a source and an absorber to simulate battery charging and discharging and as an electronic load. The large capacitive touch screen and simple setup operation concept set a new standard for power supplies.
In addition, the R&S NGM200 series power supply introduces four new features: FastLog function that captures peaks even in the us range; The additional measuring range enhances the readback accuracy at small ranges; Battery simulation option supports battery model editing to simulate real conditions of use; With the built-in digital voltmeter, the voltage value of any point in the circuit of the device under test can be measured.
To better analyze device performance, users can capture changes in US-level voltage or current values with FastLog, a high-speed data logging feature. The R&S NGM200 power supply records voltage and current values at a sample rate of 500 ksample per second. The dual-channel R&S NGM202 can even collect data in parallel on two channels.
For maximum read back resolution and accuracy, the R& NGM200 power supply has four current and two voltage measurement ranges, resulting in a read back resolution of 10 nA/5 uV at the smallest range.
For any battery-powered device, simulating changes in battery output performance provides the actual power state at different stages of the battery's life. Using the integrated battery model Editor, users can customize battery characteristics such as charge state, open circuit voltage and equivalent series resistance to create their own battery model. Predefined data includes common battery types such as lead, lithium, nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride batteries.
