
Rohm announces the launch of a compact high output surface mount LED equipped with a lens. The new family includes 18 devices, including the CSL0901 series with standard brightness and the high-brightness CSL0902 series. In recent years, most vehicle instrument group designs have adopted shielding structures to prevent LED light leakage. However, due to the expansion caused by temperature changes, a small space needs to be reserved between the shield and the PCB, so the structure does not completely prevent light leakage.
In addition, in some applications that use leds, such as automotive and industrial systems, electronic components are exposed to harsh environments. These components require high reliability to prevent aging. To this end, Rohm has developed component-level products for high-reliability applications, such as the first high-brightness silver-free LED that prevents vulcanization, which is one of the main causes of aging.
Rohm's latest product range includes automotives that ensure high reliability of vehicle instrument clusters in harsh environments. Rohm increases the standard product light source position from 0.18mm to 0.49mm, significantly reducing light leakage. At the same time, the size is reduced by about 18 times compared to traditional reflective leds.
In addition, all devices are designed to prevent light weakening, even in the high temperature environment of the car. Rohm has also developed a new resin for blue, green and white leds to improve reliability. When testing blue leds in a high temperature environment (85 ° C, IF = 20mA, 1000 hours of operation), the residual luminosity is improved by about 80% compared to conventional products. In addition, during the manufacturing process, it is possible to improve accuracy while maintaining a compact size (1.6x0.8mm), making the core brightness 5 to 7 times higher than that of traditional leds.
Rohm leds are designed to comply with AEC-Q101, the international standard for high reliability in automotive discrete product applications. Rohm is seeking certification to the AEC-Q102 optical equipment standard. The new regulation, which also covers vulcanization testing, is designed to make applications exposed to harsh environments, such as automotive and industrial systems, more reliable.
