STMicroelectronics has introduced a new road noise cancellation (RNC) MEMS sensor. The new product adopts active noise control (ANC) technology to reduce road noise, making the car more comfortable and quiet. In the past, engine performance, appearance design and gearbox were the three defining elements of automobile; Now, drivers and passengers pay more and more attention to driving comfort.
The electric vehicle (EV) has less noise than the fuel vehicle (ICE), which is the inherent advantage of the electric vehicle. The automobile manufacturers then focus on reducing the noise caused by the wheel or vibration in the vehicle, creating a quieter compartment environment, so that passengers can better enjoy the travel fun. The noise reduction algorithm cooperates with the sensor arrays installed everywhere in the vehicle to measure the ambient sound, and uses the noise reduction waveform to reduce the vibration noise (reduction), so as to eliminate the vibration noise.
Semantic semiconductor simulation Simone Ferri, general manager of MEMS sub department marketing of MEMS and Sensor Products Department, said: "In today's digital era, in order to ensure that the cabin is quieter, the journey is safer and more pleasant, and to deal with the unwanted sound in the car, it is wise to reduce the noise rather than reduce it. With the transformation of the car to hybrid and electric, road noise may have a great impact on the car, and our AIS25BA accelerometer has brought high value to the system designers."
By virtue of its development capability in MEMS IC, STF Semiconductor has endowed AIS25BA with outstanding product characteristics, making the RNC system more accurate. The electrical noise of the sensor is currently at the lowest level on the market and can help automotive engineers achieve a quieter interior environment. On the other hand, it has the fast response/low delay required by the RNC system to calculate the correction waveform in real time, and the high bandwidth required to capture interference in the entire audio frequency range related to the application. The wide operating temperature range and mechanical resistance allow the sensor to be placed in the worst places in today's vehicle environment: near the engine or drive motor, and near the wheels and suspension.
