ST has added new features to the STM32 microcontroller software framework, TouchGFX

     STMicroelectronics has added new features to the STM32 microcontroller (MCU) software framework, TouchGFX, to make it easier for device manufacturers to develop compelling user interfaces for home appliances, home automation, industrial controls, medical devices and wearables.

     The latest version introduces the TouchGFX Generator feature to make project creation and related peripheral configuration easier. As an add-on to the STM32CubeMX initializer, this feature can generate custom projects based on the latest STM32Cube firmware and the user's chosen graphics setup and development environment (IDE), supporting STM32CubeIDE and leading third-party IDE development environments.

     TouchGFX Generator is the main development tool of TouchGFX hardware abstraction layer (TouchGFXHAL) connecting TouchGFX application and MCU hardware, which can reduce the development requirements on users' TFT display knowledge. And enable all kinds of developers to create complex and advanced STM32 graphics software.

     TouchGFX Designer is a development environment for creating, managing, and building graphical applications that runs on a PC, adding features to simplify navigation, modify Settings, and control code versions. If you modify the project configuration in STM32CubeMX, the graphical Settings of TouchGFX Designer are automatically updated.

     In addition, the new version of the software also improves the processing performance of the TouchGFX Engine running on embedded STM32 MCUS, with improved texture mapping that reduces rendering times by up to 60%, and enhanced animation by scaling and rotating objects. In addition, the new software also supports font replacement (GSUB) tables for use with Hindi fonts, simplifying advanced typographic display design.

     From simple applications to applications requiring high pixel resolution and color depth, TouchGFX gives developers the flexibility to create high-quality user interfaces. Users of the customized STM32 development board can configure the TouchGFX software framework and the hardware capabilities of their chosen microcontroller in the STM32CubeMX with TouchGFX Generator suite, specify the preferred IDE/compiler, and then generate the project.

     Users who prototype their products using off-the-shelf STM32 display development kits can start their development work with TouchGFX Designer, which integrates a new or pre-created presentation application. The entire project is generated with a full Board Support package (BSP) containing the STM32Cube software and external component drivers.
