STMicroelectronics introduces a highly integrated three-phase half-bridge driver IC for low-voltage industrial applications up to 75V, a space-saving, energy-efficient motor control solution for controlling three-phase brushless motors in electric bicycles, power tools, pumps, fans, light machinery, game consoles and other equipment.

The STDRIVE101 has three built-in half-bridge drivers for driving external N-channel MOSFETs, each with a maximum pull and fill current of 600mA. A bootstrap diode and 50mA 12V low voltage drop (LDO) regulator are integrated inside the chip to power external components at any time, minimizing bill of material costs. An integrated comparator with an external resistor can detect current, and the MOSFET drain-source voltage monitoring function provides short circuit protection.

Basic internal safety features include internally generated dead time to prevent cross conduction, an overheat shutdown function, and high and low side undervoltage lock (UVLO) to prevent the MOSFETs from operating under inefficient or hazardous conditions.

The DT/ MODE selector pin gives the designer the option to control the switch tube with separate high and low side signals or a single PWM signal and enable the input. The standby pin enables the STDRIVE101 to enter low-power mode with the LDO regulator off, maximizing power savings during idle periods.
