
ST introduces the world's most advanced 6-axis motion sensor to fully support optical image stabilization systems for smartphones, tablets and digital cameras. The new LSM6DS3H, the latest addition to ST's iNEMO™ family of inertial motion sensors, combines a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer and ultra-low power processing circuits in a system-level package solution for the industry's lowest power consumption and smallest package size.
Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) technologies help to minimize the out-of-focus and blurring of images caused by camera shaking. Electronic image stabilization and optical image stabilization technologies were originally developed for professional cameras, but are now widely used by more and more smartphones and tablets to avoid blurring the image caused by the user's arm shaking.
ST is an expert in the design of high-end OIS gyroscopes and a technology pioneer in dual-core gyroscopes capable of simultaneously handling user motion, gesture recognition and photo stabilization. The LSM6DS3H combines ST's expertise and strengths in both areas. This ultra-low power micro MEMS module helps equipment manufacturers minimize product size, system complexity and cost. The anti-shake system using two single-function gyroscopes requires 5mA of operating current, and the power consumption of the new product is less than 1mA, which greatly reduces the power consumption of the photo anti-shake system of the mobile product and successfully extends the battery life.

There are plenty of opportunities for people to pull out their phones to take pictures, but they are most likely to reduce the sharpness of the pictures due to arm shaking. "Our new versatile motion sensor minimizes blurry images in any photo situation, while extending battery life with ultra-low power consumption."
