STMicroelectronics 8-way output high-side switches integrate rich protection diagnostics in a compact package

     The IPS8160HQ and IPS8160HQ-1 high-side switches from STMicroelectronics feature eight power inputs and outputs in a compact QFN48L package with many additional security diagnostic features. Available in 8mm x 6mm x 0.9mm pitch QFN48L package.

     Each channel has its own overload (OVL) protection and junction overheat (OVT) protection to prevent power overloads or junction temperatures from burning out the circuit, while minimizing machine shutdowns caused by temporary failures. When the junction temperature and shell temperature are too high, the overload channel automatically closes, and then restarts, so that the junction temperature and shell temperature are always below the maximum safe value, while the channel without overload maintains normal operation. Once the ground is disconnected, the switch tube will close immediately. Additional protection features include overvoltage protection, undervoltage lock (UVLO), short circuit protection, output current limiting, and overheating fault alerting.

     The default streaming limit of the IPS8160HQ is 0.7A, and the IPS8160HQ-1 is 1A. The operating voltage of both switch tubes is 10.5V to 36V, which facilitates the equipment to meet international industrial equipment standards.
