STMicroelectronics Announces High-Temperature Snubberless 800V H-Series SCRs Save Space, Improve Reliability

     STMicroelectronics announces 800V H-series thyristors with a maximum junction temperature of 150°C at maximum rated output current, which can reduce the size of heat sinks for AC load drivers by up to 50%, developing compact size and high reliability AC drive.

     Suitable for industrial manufacturing equipment, personal care products, smart home products and smart building systems, the new 800V H-Series SCRs utilize ST's latest Snubberless™ high temperature technology for outstanding durability. The low on-voltage (VTM) ensures high operating efficiency of the switch and minimizes the self-heating of the device itself, with low leakage current and the ability to maintain low leakage current for long periods of time, thereby reducing standby power losses. In addition, the high critical turn-off current slope combined with robust dynamic performance prevents unwanted commutation.

     The 800V H-Series SCRs safely drive inductive loads, allowing designers to develop durable and efficient control circuits for HVAC systems, AC motor drives, water heaters, heaters, lighting systems, home appliances and smart AC plugs. And adopt D2PAK, TO-220AB and TO-220AB insulating package.

     All 8H series products cover the rated current range of 8A to 30A. The peak off-state voltage of 800V ensures that the switch achieves robust switching performance in AC equipment, including three-phase equipment up to 400V RMS. Excellent noise immunity allows the switch to withstand fast voltage transients up to 6kV and voltage slopes (dV/dt) up to 2000V/s over the entire junction temperature range.
