STMicroelectronics has expanded its STM32WB Bluetooth LE microcontroller (MCU) product line with new products that combine essential functions with energy-saving technologies.
The dual-core microcontrollers STM32WB15 and STM32WB10 Value Line are equipped with the main application processor Arm Cortex-M4 and the Bluetooth 5.2 Bluetooth processor Cortex-M0+, ensuring that both processors can achieve excellent real-time performance. The link budget on the RF side reaches 102dBm, ensuring stable and reliable long-distance network connection, and the integrated balun (balun) circuit saves board space and bill of materials costs.
New products feature a new RF to keep working ultra power-saving mode, as well as carefully tailored peripherals and memory for cost-sensitive, power-conscious embedded applications including wearables, beacons, smart circuit breakers devices, trackers, IoT terminals and industrial automation equipment.
The software development kit (SDK) of each MCU includes a standard RF communication protocol stack, support for proprietary communication protocols, a security system to ensure secure software updates, protection of brand and device data integrity, and proprietary code read protection (PCROP) technology protection intellectual property.
As these new devices come to market, the STM32WB series has also expanded in package variants, offering a variety of package configuration options, including increased GPIO port counts, and pin-to-pin compatibility between similar packages. Customers can upgrade applications with different features and memory capacities, take advantage of pin compatibility across all packages, and easily migrate designs between different microcontrollers.
The development ecosystem includes the STM32Cube certified RF protocol supporting various applications, software extension packages and code examples, the STM32CubeMX configurator and initialization code generator, the STM32CubeIDE development environment, the powerful STM32CubeMonitor-RF evaluation board, and the associated Nucleo development board.
