STMicroelectronics has launched a new solution to speed time-to-market for IoT products that utilizes off-the-shelf tiny STM32 wireless microcontroller (MCU) modules to speed up the development cycle of new Bluetooth LE and 802.15.4-based IoT devices.
The 7mm x 11.3mm STM32WB5MMG module enables product development teams that lack wireless design capabilities to develop IoT products. Designed to develop low-cost PCB boards with a minimum number of layers, the new module integrates the entire RF subsystem up to the antenna. Users also have free access to ST's STM32Cube MCU development ecosystem tools, design wizards, RF protocol stacks and complete software libraries to quickly and efficiently complete development projects.

In addition, the module supports ST's unique coexistence dual-protocol mode, allowing users to connect any IEEE 802.15.4 radio-based protocol (including Zigbee 3.0 and OpenThread) directly to any Bluetooth Low Energy BLE device.
Benefiting from all the features of STMicroelectronics' STM32WB55 ultra-low power wireless microcontroller, the module can be used in various application scenarios for smart home, smart building and smart factory equipment. Users can use the dual-core architecture of the MCU to separate the RF and application processing, and the processing performance will not be affected by any factors; it has both large-capacity memory to store RF application code and data, and the latest network security features to protect device security.
