STMicroelectronics has introduced three high-precision high-voltage bidirectional current-sense amplifiers that add a convenient shutdown pin to maximize power savings.
The precision of the TSC2010, TSC2011 and TSC2012 amplifiers allows designers to select smaller values of sensitive resistors to minimize power consumption. At 25°C, offset voltage is within ±200µV, temperature drift is less than 5µV/°C, and gain accuracy is within 0.3%, enabling the device to detect voltage drops down to 10mV at full scale, providing consistent and reliable measurements .
With a gain variation of 20V/V for the TSC2010, 60V/V for the TSC2011 and 100V/V for the TSC2012, the TSC2010 provides the flexibility to build accurate current measurement, overcurrent protection, current monitoring and current feedback circuits for industrial and automotive systems. Target applications include data acquisition, motor control, solenoid valve control, instrumentation, test measurement, and process control.
The bidirectional sense capability of the three new amplifiers allows forward and reverse currents to be measured with a single current sense circuit, helping designers reduce bill-of-materials costs. The new products are also available in both high- and low-side connection configurations, allowing the high and low sides to share the same type of device, simplifying inventory management.
The supply voltage of the three new products is in the range of 2.7V-5.5V, further improving the application flexibility. Wide input voltage tolerance allows the new product to sense common-mode voltages and currents from -20V to 70V at any supply voltage. The new product features a high gain-bandwidth product and fast slew rate (820kHz and 7.5V/µs for the TSC2010, respectively), ensuring high measurement accuracy and fast response.
The three new products integrate EMI filters and ESD protection of 2kV HBM (Human Body Model) to ensure that the devices have strong noise immunity and can work in the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
The three new products are also accompanied by the STEVAL-AETKT1V2 evaluation board, which helps designers quickly jump-start development projects using any device and accelerate time-to-market.
