STMicroelectronics' STSAFE-A110 security unit introduces new data security features

     STMicroelectronics' STSAFE-A110 Security Unit (SE) introduces new data security features to secure data exchange in an environment of increasing cyber security threats, and protects Internet of Things (IoT) connected consumer products and industrial equipment by preventing genuine products from being counterfeits through rigorous verification and anti-counterfeiting technology. The STSAFE-A110 is available in both SO8N and DFN packages, and typical applications include brand protection of products such as consumables, accessories or power tool batteries, as well as authenticity verification of cloud-based iot devices such as vending machines, farm tools or environmental sensors.

     The STSAFE-A110 has the most advanced security protection functions certified by relevant standards, and provides users with the secure loading and use of cloud certificates, registering iot devices in large quantities, ensuring that only authorized devices can access online services, and this important security personalization process can be completed in ST's secure factory. There is no additional charge for customers who purchase more than 5,000 units per year, making it simpler and more secure to manage confidential data during the manufacturing of iot devices.

     The chip is equipped with an embedded secure operating system and the hardware has passed the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 5+ (EAL5+) certification test. Each chip has a unique device identification number and X.509 certificate, making it easy for devices to securely connect to networks or other devices.

     In addition, STMicroelectronics' latest SE security modules are integrated within the STM32Cube development ecosystem and can be quickly integrated into new STM32 design projects with device verification and secure connectivity requirements. The X-NUCLEO-SAFEA1 expansion board speeds up application development and supports all STM32 Nucleo development boards, as well as the free X-Cub-SafeA1 and X-Cub-SBSFU packages.
