STMicroelectronics announces New radiation-hardened devices to improve energy efficiency in aerospace applications

     To further expand its portfolio of space-grade radiation-hardened power devices, STMicroelectronics has introduced new ESCC (European Coordination Committee for Space Components) certified 200V and 400V power rectifier tubes, as well as 45V and 150V anti-SEB [SEB: Single particle burnout - destruction of electronic components caused by heavy ionizing radiation (e.g., cosmic rays in space applications).] Effect Schottky rectifier tube.

     The new radiation-hardened Schottky diodes, which include 45V and 150V SEB tolerations up to 61MeV/cm2/mg LET (linear Energy Transfer), are the industry's first SEB-rated Schottky diode products for a variety of converter topologies. Both 150V and 45V products can be directly connected to 100V and 28V satellite power bus. At 40A/125°C, the maximum forward voltage (VF) of a 150V device is 0.78V. The maximum forward voltage (VF) of a 45V device is 0.61V.

     STMicroelectronics has introduced a total of five ESCC certified dual-common-cathode Schottky devices, of which the STPS40A45C is a TO-254AA through-hole package 45V/2x20A diode; The STPS80A45C 45V/2x40A, STPS60A150C 150V/2x30A and STPS80A150C 150V/2x40A are SMD.5 sealed surface mount devices. The STPS40A150C 150V/2x20A is a TO254AA package.

     The new rectifier diodes are the STTH40200C 200V/2x20A dual diode in the TO-254AA package, and the STTH60200C 200V/2x30A dual diode and STTH60400 400V/60A single diode in the SMD1 hermetically mounted package.Characterization tests of STMicroelectronics' new radiation-resistant rectifier tube and Schottky diode demonstrate tolerance to ionizing total dose (TID) radiation up to 3 Mradf(silicon), ensuring that the voltage drop does not degenerate at four operating current values, so multiple different power supply designs can share a single device, simplifying application design.

     These products are manufactured in the STMicroelectronics plant in Rennes, France, using the same flat manufacturing process as the STMicroelectronics AEC-Q101 Automotive certified products, and the product quality is excellent and guaranteed. The space devices manufactured at ST Rennes have been in flight for more than 40 years without failure.
