     STMicroelectronics begins mass production of STISO621 dual-channel digital isolators, a new family of high-performance isolators for industrial control applications that can replace common optocouplings. The data transfer rate between the two isolated areas of STISO621 is 100Mbit/s, the pulse distortion is less than 3ns, and the 6kV thick oxide current isolation technology from ST is used. The device has two independent one-way channels and can be used in UART transceiver interfaces that process bidirectional data. Each channel has a Schmidt trigger input to ensure that the isolator has a high noise resistance.

     At both ends of the STISO621, which are electrically isolated from each other, the supply voltages are independent of each other. Each power supply can switch levels between a wide voltage range of 3.3V and 5.5V. The typical common mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 65kV/μs protects the low voltage side from high switching transients in harsh environments.

     STISO621 is suitable for a variety of industrial and consumer applications such as power supplies, motor drivers, meters, inverters, battery monitors, appliances, fieldbus isolators, sidimension-critical multi-channel isolation adapters, and routine isolation throughout industrial automation systems. The product design conforms to the test specification VDE0884-10 and UL 1577 for high voltage isolation equipment.

     The EVALSTISO62XV1 evaluation board helps speed up design for a variety of application scenarios. St also offers EVALSTPM-3PHISO, a reference design specifically made for the use case of three-phase isolated meter systems. The design integrates STISO621 for separating high voltage domains with ST's high-precision STPMS2 metering front end ics, and also provides dedicated firmware for computing measurement three-phase data and power quality data running in the STM32 microcontroller.

     With a maximum operating isolation voltage (VIOWM) of 1200Vpeak and a high Impulse Withstand voltage (VIOTM), the STISO621 current isolation does not change over time, maintaining the integrity of the current isolation during any system failure. Available in two packages, the STISO621 comes in a SO8 narrow-body package with a 4mm creepage distance and electrical gap and a VIOTM voltage of 4800V. The STISO621W comes in a SO8 wide-body package with a creepage distance and gap of 8mm and a VIOTM of 6000V. High performance is guaranteed in the temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.
