STMicroelectronics introduces HVLED007 AC/DC LED drivers for energy saving lamps

     STMicroelectronics announces the HVLED007 AC/DC LED driver with a new distortion suppression input current shaping (ICS) circuit that enables energy-efficient solid-state luminisers to comply with increasingly stringent lighting regulations in an industry-standard SO8 compact package.

     The HVLED007 is a peak current mode PFC controller specifically designed for isolated high power factor quasi-resonant flyback converters. The ICS circuit ensures that the grid input current is a true sinusoidal alternating current with extremely low total harmonic distortion (THD) of the input current across the load and input voltage range, less than 5% at full load. With a power factor close to 1 and a maximum energy efficiency of more than 90%, the HVLED007 allows designers to drive multiple mid - to high-power LED lighting fixtures up to 80W with just one control IC.

     HVLED007 completes ST's HVLED series of digital IC products that drive LED lamps directly with grid rectification power. HVLED drivers integrate advanced features to support economical primary side voltage regulation, reducing material costs and circuit size while improving system reliability and lighting performance.

     The HVLED007 has a minimum operating temperature of -40°C and can be used for outdoor lighting such as street lamps as well as indoor lighting. Totem pole output stage source current 600mA, input current 800mA, in addition to lighting applications, HVLED007 can also be used for up to 100W EN61000-3-2 standard switching power supply. The built-in protection functions of the chip include short circuit protection, overload protection and overvoltage protection.
