STMicroelectronics introduces Inertial Modules for IIoT and IoT applications

     STMicroelectronics ISM330IS and ISN330ISN iNEMO inertial modules. These modules provide an integrated SiP solution that combines a three-axis digital accelerometer with a three-axis digital gyroscope. Inertial modules enable always-on, low-power optimal performance in industrial iot and iot applications, including industrial robotics, asset tracking, condition monitoring, and complex motion detection.

     The inertial module provides an embedded smart sensor processing unit with an ultra-low power programmable core capable of performing signal processing and artificial intelligence algorithms at the edge. The inertial module provides a full scale acceleration range of ±2g to ±16g and an angular velocity range of ±125dps to ±2000dps. The module's ISPU uses data from the internal accelerometer/gyroscope and up to four external sensors, utilizing the device's sensor hub function.

     The ISM330IS Inertial module uses an extensive library ecosystem, as well as third-party tools and ides. ISM330ISN works with NanoEdge. AI Studio, the company's development tool, allows users to create machine learning libraries. The STEVAL-MKI233KA IS330IS evaluation suite supports these modules.

     The evaluation kit includes a pre-installed IS330IS sensor target board and an adapter card for easy connection to the STEVAL-MKI109V3 MEMS development platform (not included). The development platform provides a high-performance 32-bit microcontroller that acts as a bridge between the sensor and the PC, on which applications can be customized using downloadable Unico-GUI or dedicated software routines
