STMicroelectronics introduces high temperature Snubberless 800V H series thyristors

     STMicroelectronics releases 800V H Series thyristors with a maximum junction temperature of 150°C at maximum rated output current, thus reducing the heat sink size of AC load drivers by up to 50% and developing AC drivers with compact size and high reliability. Available in D2PAK, TO-220AB and TO-220AB insulated packages.

     The new 800V H Series thyristors are suitable for industrial manufacturing equipment, personal care products, smart home products and smart building systems, leveraging ST's latest Snubberless high temperature technology for excellent durability. Low on-voltage (VTM) ensures that the switch has a high working efficiency, and minimizes the spontaneous heat of the device itself, has a very low leakage current, and can maintain a low leakage current for a long time, thereby reducing standby power loss. In addition, the high critical turn-off current slope combined with robust dynamic performance prevents redundant commutation operations.

     The 800V H Series thyristors safely drive inductive loads, allowing designers to develop durable and efficient control circuits for HVAC systems, AC motor drives, water heaters, heaters, lighting systems, home appliances, and smart AC plugs.

     All 8H products cover the rated current range from 8A to 30A. A peak off-state voltage of 800V ensures robust switching performance in AC equipment, including three-phase equipment up to 400V RMS. Excellent noise resistance enables the switch to withstand fast voltage transients up to 6kV and voltage slopes up to 2000V/s (dV/dt) over the entire junction temperature range.
