STMicroelectronics introduces the STM32WB dual-core wireless MCU series

     With the introduction of the STM32WB35 and STM32WB30 value product lines, ST expands the STM32WB dual-core multi-protocol microcontroller (MCU) portfolio, giving designers more flexibility to target opportunities in cost-sensitive markets.

     These two extremely low-power MCUS integrate a 2.4GHz RF dedicated Arm® Cortex-M0 + core with a 64MHzArm®Cortex-M4 core running the main application for uninterrupted real-time performance, Support Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0, Zigbee 3.0 and OpenThread (IEEE 802.15.4) three protocols and co-mode, built-in data security protection function. All stacks are fully certified, supported and managed by ST, and are free to use. The new products are suitable for large-scale iot applications, such as fleet management, resource management, and asset monitoring and tracking.

     The new product is packaged in QFN48, is pin-compatible with the existing STM32WB5x device, and has the same MCU capabilities, allowing users to flexibly upgrade and port product designs. The new MCU integrates RF Barron, a USB2.0 Full Speed device controller with a crystalless oscillator, 32MHz crystal embedded capacitors, and DC/DC buck converters to minimize bill of materials (BoM) and platform package area.

     Excellent RF performance, up to + 6dBm configurable output power, 102dBm link budget to ensure longer communication distance and more reliable and stable connection, while ultra-low power consumption to extend battery life. The STM32WB fully supports the market-proven STM32Cube ecosystem, an extremely resource-rich software development suite that integrates embedded software libraries and software development tools to meet all requirements for a complete project development cycle, ensuring a completely consistent user experience across the portfolio.

     The STM32WB35 and STM32WB30 value product lines offer up to 512 KB of integrated flash memory and up to 96 KB of SRAM with a four-wire SPI interface for external high-speed memory, as well as a variety of analog peripherals, digital interfaces, and fast I/O ports, many of which are compatible with 5V voltage signals.

     The STM32WB MCU focuses on security, integrating secure Firmware installation (SFI), hardware encryption module to protect application software and RF communication protocol stacks, hardware Public Key Authorization module (PKA), hardware accelerator for the latest encryption algorithms, and secure over-the-air (OTA) firmware update support.
