STMicroelectronics releases Amazon Certified Smart iot Device Reference Design Kit

     STMicroelectronics has released the Amazon Certified Smart iot Device Reference Design Kit. Leveraging the Alexa Voice Services (AVS) integration capabilities of the AWS IoT Core platform, the new design suite enables developers to develop Alexa built-in products on simple microcontrollers (MCUS).

     The AVS integration capabilities of AWS IoT Core can revolutionize the way users interact with smart devices, bringing the Alexa experience based on cloud computing services to appliances such as ovens, stoves, thermometers, blinds, hair dryers, and more without having to invest heavily in electronic hardware. This development could hasten the end of traditional buttons and knobs, leading to a new generation of products that interact easily and naturally, have adaptive intelligence, and can go to the cloud (for example, search the cloud for cooking suggestions or order supplies).

     Because the STM32 series of high-performance MCUS integrates Alexa voice user interface software, ST's Amazon certified solution accelerates the development of Alexa-enabled home appliance controllers. The energy-efficient STM32, the world's most successful 32-bit Arm® Cortex-M microcontroller, is ideal for developing economical, simple iot devices that require the latest capabilities, such as far-field audio capture and natural language understanding.
