STMicroelectronics, a leading global semiconductor supplier across multiple electronics applications, is increasing its support for the development of next-generation smart iot devices based on the Microsoft Azure RTOS platform. Release of the first package of the feature-rich STM32Cube extension series for product development teams.
STMicroelectronics and Microsoft announced in 2020 that developers would be able to use the Azure RTOS suite directly from ST's STM32Cube ecosystem. Based on this partnership, the new package provides additional application code examples to help engineers overcome common development challenges and reduce time to market. The package is royalty-free and developers can use and customize code samples immediately.
Ricardo de Sa Earp, Vice President and General Manager of MicroControllers at STMicroelectronics, said: "The STM32 ecosystem is recognized by the industry as a market-leading embedded development ecosystem, and ST will continue to add new software and development tools to bring high value to customer projects. With the latest STM32Cube extension pack, when customers develop new products running Azure RTOS, they can bring new products to market in the fastest time."
The first package in this series of extensions, X-Cub-AZrTOS-H7, gives engineers working with the STM32H7 microcontroller (MCU) family, the highest performance in ST's STM32 MCU product family, a head start. St will release similar packages supporting other STM32 MCUS in 2021.
The STM32H7 series includes more than 100 single-core and dual-core products, and the processing performance has achieved the best results in the Arm® Cortex®-M processor MCU benchmark, and has powerful graphics processing capabilities and hardware network security protection.
