Samsung introduces the Exynos i T100 iot chip to enhance the security of short-range communications

     Samsung has announced the Exynos i T100, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution that enhances the security and reliability of short-range communication devices. In addition to the previously launched Exynos i T200 for Wi-Fi and Exynos i S111 for long-range narrowband (NB) communications, the launch of the Exynos i T100 allows the company to cover a wider range of connectivity for iot devices.

     The biggest feature of the new Exynos i T100 iot security chip is the integrated processor and memory module. For IoT devices, it helps to improve the security and reliability that comes with the hardware. It is reported that the Exynos i T100 will focus on the short-range communication device market, supporting Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.0) and Zigbee 3.0. As more and more smart home devices are connected to the network, ensuring good security will become critical.

     Since the hardware integrates processors and memory, device manufacturers will be able to "enhance the flexibility of their product development process." Ben Hur, senior Vice President of Marketing, System LSI, Samsung Electronics, said: "Low-power, short-range iot solutions that connect various products in home appliances or buildings can make our lives easier and safer. The Exynos i T100 supports multiple communication protocols and strong security features, helping to further expand iot services so that they can benefit our daily lives."

     Samsung says it can also be used in wearable devices. The Exynos i T100 is based on high-performance 28 nm process technology and is optimized to automate and control a wide range of home or business environments. Can be used with small iot devices such as gas detectors, temperature controllers, window sensors, and smart lights.

     Among them, the T100 chip supports Bluetooth Low Power 5.0 and ZigBee3.0, and the processor is integrated with memory in a small single-chip package for increased flexibility. The T100 chip can also withstand extreme temperatures as low as -40°C and as high as 125°C.
In addition, the Exynos i T100 comes with a separate security subsystem (SSS) hardware module for data encryption as well as a uniquely identified physical non-clonable function (PUF) for the creation of each chipset.

     Ben Hur, senior vice president of System LSI Marketing at Samsung Electronics, stressed: "The Exynos i T100, with its multiple communication protocols and robust security features, will help further expand iot services and make them more accessible to our daily lives." In addition to protecting the device from hackers and other threats, the Exynos i T100 uses an energy-efficient 28nm process that is suitable for devices that are used for long periods of time, such as temperature monitors and fire detectors. It is reported that the chip is also described by Samsung as a reliable chip because it can withstand extreme temperatures as low as -40ºC and as high as 125ºC.
