
Samsung Electronics has announced the introduction of the industry-leading enhanced plant full spectrum mid-power device, the LM301H, for greenhouse and plant plant applications. The new LM301H plant device offers photon efficiency of up to 3.10 μmol/J, the highest among current medium power LED devices.
Un-Soo Kim, senior vice president of LED Business team at Samsung Electronics, said: "This breakthrough in photon efficiency will help plant factory owners improve plant growth speed, quality, and profits. We will continue to innovate to provide more optimized full-spectrum LED solutions for healthier plants. At the same time, we will continue to strengthen our market leadership."
The enhanced LM301H, with higher photon efficiency, compared with previous versions of similar devices, plant lamp manufacturers can reduce the amount of devices in each lamp by about 30%, while achieving the same level of efficiency, lamp design can also be smaller and lighter, reducing manufacturing and transportation costs. If the same number of devices are used, the photon efficiency of the luminaires can be improved by at least 4%, allowing plant plants to reduce energy consumption.
By optimizing the active area of the epitaxial structure, Samsung converts electrical energy into more photons, thereby achieving a large increase in photon efficiency. At the same time, the improvement of the chip structure greatly reduces the light loss, which can provide more light for the plant.
In addition, due to Samsung's advanced flip chip architecture, the LM301H device does not require lead bonding, which helps improve the performance and reliability of the device. The protective layer of titanium dioxide around the chip makes the device more reliable when exposed to harmful emissions from agricultural chemicals and plants.
In order to promote more balanced plant growth, the new enhanced full-spectrum LM301H device contains a wider spectrum from blue, green to red light, which can enhance the plant's immunity to disease and improve nutritional value.
