Semtech Introduces LoRa Core Portfolio and New Digital Baseband Chips to Provide LoRaWAN Network Coverage and Functionality Worldwide

     Semtech has launched the LoRa Core product portfolio, as well as a new chipset in the series. The LoRa Core product portfolio can provide LoRaWAN network coverage on a global scale, and its applications can be applied to multiple vertical industries, including asset tracking, smart buildings, smart homes, smart agriculture, smart metering, factory automation, etc.

     The LoRa Core product portfolio consists of sub-GHz transceiver chips, gateway chips and reference designs. Including SX126x series, SX127x series and LLCC68 transceiver chips; SX130x series gateway chips; traditional gateway reference design and LoRa® Corecell gateway reference design. They all have the basic functions of Semtech LoRa devices, including long-distance, low-power, and low-cost end-to-end communication.

     “The new LoRa Core gateway IC enables network-based geolocation of LoRa devices without the need to install Global Positioning System (GPS) hardware on each individual end node. Based on providing accurate time of arrival for each demodulated message The precise time stamping of information, the new chipset enables gateways to perform network-centric geolocation based on Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA), which is ideal for some cost-sensitive asset tracking applications choice,” said Pedro Pachuca, Director of Wireless Products for Semtech’s Wireless and Sensing Business Unit. "The new LoRa Core chip helps customers accelerate the development of their applications running the LoRaWAN protocol.      The new LoRa Corecell gateway reference design with accurate time stamping is available in the US, Europe and China. LoRa Corecell will help developers design gateways that combine LoRa with an optimal bill of materials (BOM) and lowest power configuration, while delivering state-of-the-art, network-centric geolocation performance.
