Semtech partners with Hanbit to Build an efficient water supply network using LoRa devices

     Semtech, a leading provider of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products and advanced algorithms, announced: As a leading provider of end-to-end automation solutions for smart gas, water and electricity meters, Hanbit has developed a new ultrasonic water meter (UWM) solution based on Semtech's LoRa devices and the LoRaWAN protocol. Hanbit's ultrasonic water meter products utilize lorawan-based connectivity to support near real-time transmission of accurate water usage data, even at very low flow rates.

     Hanbit's UWM smart meter uses ultrasonic pulses to accurately measure water flows, including water flows as low as 3 liters per hour. Flow readings occur at regular intervals to provide an accurate understanding of water usage trends. This accurate meter data can be accessed in real time through a cloud-based application to simplify billing and trend analysis. If there is a drop in water flow or other abnormal conditions, the smart meter will immediately send a warning message over the LoRaWAN network to enable a quick response and prevent damage. In addition, the low power consumption of LoRa devices enables Hanbit to offer meter solutions with up to 20 years of battery life, thereby reducing replacement and maintenance costs for customers.
