Sensor development kit for power-optimized IoT applications

     ON Semiconductor announced the launch of the RSL10 Sensor Development Kit, designed to provide engineering teams with a platform for fully developing Internet of Things (IoT) applications with cutting-edge smart sensor technology, enabled by the industry's lowest-power Bluetooth low-power radio.

     The RSL10 Sensor Development Kit combines the highly integrated RSL10 System-level Package (RSL10 SIP) with Bosch Sensortec's range of advanced low-power sensors. The development platform provides nine degrees of freedom (DoF) detection and environmental monitoring, including ambient light, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pressure, relative humidity, and temperature. Also included is an ultra-low noise digital microphone with a user programmable RGB LED, three programmable push button switches and 64 kbit EEPROM.

     Commenting ON the launch of the RSL10 sensor development Kit, Dr. Peter Weigand, Vice President of Marketing at Bosch Sensortec, said: "We are delighted to partner with ON Semiconductor on the development of the RSL10 sensor suite. This small form factor platform includes Bosch Sensortec's highly integrated BME680 environmental sensor to detect a wide range of gases for a wide range of air quality applications, as well as our BMM150 geomagnetic sensor and BHI160 smart sensor for high-precision motion detection. The RSL10 sensor suite combines motion and environment awareness with Bluetooth 5-certified RSL10 ultra-low power capabilities to enable a new class of consumer and industrial IoT applications with improved sensor technology and longer battery life."

     Developers use RSL10 to sense and control mobile applications, which can be connected to the RSL10 Sensor development Kit to monitor sensors and evaluate suite characteristics (optional out of the box). The application also supports sensor data transfer across multiple commercial cloud platforms.

The RSL10 comes in a full system-level package (SiP) with a 5.5 mm2 WLCSP, 6 mm x 6 mm QFN package and integrated antenna.
