Sensor modules suitable for light curtain applications with reflection and proximity detection distances up to 2 m and 30 m, respectively

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of a new series of five infrared (IR) sensor modules in a compact package, the TSSP9xxx. The Vishay Semiconductors TSSP9xxx AGC0 device has a fast response time of 300 μs and a reflection and proximity detection distance of 2 meters and 30 meters, respectively, for light curtain and perimeter security applications.

     Compared with the previous generation of devices, the recently released fixed-gain sensor has a high anti-interference ability, is not affected by stray signals, and the output pulse width is closer to the optical pulse burst length. In addition, the detection threshold is almost constant in the temperature range from -25 C to +85 C, and the effective infrared signal that can be detected is higher than the DC illuminance level.

     The TSSP9xxx AGC0 features a variable intensity burst mode and is ideal for fast approach applications (~15 ms). The sensors are suitable for detecting the distance of objects and can be used in toys, remote-controlled aircraft, robots and smart proximity switches. At the same time, it can also be used as a reflective sensor for hand dryers, paper towels or soap dispensers, automatic faucets, toilets, vending machines fall detection, as well as security equipment and pet entry. To simplify application design, the TSSP9xxx series sensor integrates the PIN photodiode and sensor IC in a small Minimold (TSSP930...) , Mold (TSSP940...) , Heimdall (TSSP950...) , Panhead (TSSP960...)      The operating voltage of the module is 2.0V to 3.6V, the supply current is only 0.8mA, and the carrier switching frequency is 38 kHz and 56 kHz. The sensor can receive IR pulses from the transmitter with a peak wavelength of 940 nm. The device is insensitive to power supply voltage and ripple noise, and can shield EMI, and the IR filter can suppress visible light. The TSSP9xxx series sensors comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
