
Silanna Semiconductor, a leader in power density technology, today announced the expansion of its industry-leading active Clamp flyback controller (ACF) product line. Silanna Semiconductor is committed to addressing the ultimate challenge of power management by delivering best-in-class power density and efficiency, and is able to deliver unprecedented savings in BoM costs and meet the multiple needs of our customers. At APEC 2019, Silanna Semiconductor unveiled its first active clamp flyback controller, which has met customer demand and achieved expected market penetration, and now dominates the integrated ACF market.
The SZ1110 and SZ1130 devices are active clamp flyback PWM controllers that integrate an adaptive digital PWM controller and other ultra-high voltage (UHV) components, including an active clamp MOSFET, an active clamp MOSFET driver, and a high voltage start unit. This unprecedented level of integration helps to design more efficient and power-dense power adapters with lower BoM costs that can meet the needs of very power-hungry phones, tablets, laptops and video game consoles.

These devices can provide the simplified design of a flyback controller with all the advantages of an ACF design, including the ability to fully utilize the leakage energy of a flyback transformer and limit voltage spikes at the drain of the main MOSFET when turned off. The SZ1110 and SZ1130 use Silanna Semiconductor's OptiModeTM digital control architecture, which adjusts the device's operating mode cycle by cycle and varies according to input voltage and load. To maintain high efficiency, low electromagnetic interference (EMI), fast dynamic load regulation, and other critical power parameters.
