Silicon Labs Launches New Ultra Low Power and High Performance PG23 MCU for Embedded IoT Applications

     Silicon Labs announced that it has launched a new 32-bit PG23 MCU to expand its FG23 and ZG23 wireless SoC series. The MCU can provide first-class security and extremely low operating power consumption, as well as compatibility software that can work with its diversified wireless SoC products. This combination is very suitable for industrial IoT applications such as smart meters, control panels or solar inverters, as well as consumer applications such as smoke detectors, smart locks or lighting controls. In addition, PG23 adds powerful analog peripherals, including analog to digital converters (ADC) with a resolution of up to 20 bits.

     PG23 is small in size, but it is suitable for many applications. Its operating frequency is up to 80 MHz, and its operating current is only 21 μ A/MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core. In sleep mode, the current of PG23 can be as low as 1.03 μ A。 With such low power consumption and low power sensor interface (LESENSE), PG23 is outstanding in battery powered applications. The MCU provides enough memory for most algorithms, with 512 kB flash memory and 64 kB RAM. In addition to equipped with complete serial communication peripherals, PG23 also has LCD controller, keyboard scanning and chip built-in temperature sensor.

     To detect edge signals, PG23 has two analog comparators and an analog to digital converter with flexible resolution, which can be configured with 12, 16 or 20 bits. Developers can also change the mode of ADC to obtain the high-speed mode of 2 Msps, or focus on accuracy, so as to obtain the ENOB high-precision mode of up to 16 bits.
