Silicon Labs' Si822x/3x is suitable for a variety of isolated MOSFET/IGBT gate drive applications

     Silicon Labs' Si8220/1 is an "optical input" package, and the pin-compatible single-channel isolation gate drive was upgraded to the HCPL-3120 and other optical coupled gate drives. These devices can connect optical coupler external input circuits, such as voltage sources and series limiting resistors, and provide significant improvements in performance and reliability.

     The Si822x/3x isolated drive combines two separate, isolated drives plus an integrated isolator into a single package. si8230/1/2/3 is high side/low side drive, and Si8232/5/6/7/8/9 is double side drive. Versions with peak output current of 0.5A (Si8230/1/2/7) and 4.0A (Si8233/4/5/6/8/9) are available. All drives operate at a maximum supply voltage of 24 volts. Si823x drives utilize Silicon Labs' proprietary silicon isolation technology to provide up to 5 kV(RMS) with-withstand voltage per UL1577 and fast 60 ns propagation time

     Driver outputs can be grounded to the same or separate ground, or connected to a positive or negative voltage. TTL level compatible input > 400 mV hysteresis can be configured at a separate control input (Si8230/2/3/5/6/7/8/9) or PWM input (Si8231/4). High integration, low propagation delay, small mounting size, flexibility and cost effectiveness make the Si823x family ideal for a wide range of isolated MOSFET/IGBT gate drive applications.
