Silicon Labs' Z-Wave 800 SOCs and module product family

     Silicon Labs announces the launch of Z-Wave 800 Series chips (SOCs) and modules for smart home and automation applications that adopt the Z-Wave protocol. The new EFR32ZG23 (ZG23) SoC and ZGM230S modules use Silicon Labs' award-winning second-generation wireless SoC platform to provide developers with Z-Wave Mesh mode for mesh networking and Z-Wave Long Range mode for longer communication distances. Wireless communications with frequencies below 1GHz (sub-GHz) are ideal for smart homes, multi-household units (MDU), hotels and lighting applications. Socs and modules can be used as terminals and gateways. The Z-Wave 800 series is the industry's most secure, ultra-low-power wireless connectivity solution for advanced, high-performance, battery-powered Internet of Things (IoT) devices; Compared to the Z-Wave 700 series, the battery life is improved by more than 50%.

     The ZGM230S module simplifies development and takes full advantage of the ZG23's ultra-low power consumption and excellent RF performance, providing the industry with the smallest range of Z-Wave modules at a size of only 6.5mm x 6.5mm. Both solutions provide up to 10 years of use with button battery power.

     The two solutions also support Z-Wave 800's S2 security features and Silicon Labs' Secure Vault™ security features, making them the world's first wireless SOCs and modules certified with PSA Level 3 security, the highest level of security in the industry.

     The Unify SDK controller of Silicon Labs provides Z-Wave with the ability to unify in one design and support all protocols. The Unify SDK simplifies and speeds development by providing a common, well-defined data model API and state definition for commonly used iot services such as adding, updating and removing devices. Silicon Labs will demonstrate the Unity SDK bridging solution from Z-Wave to Matter at CES 2022.
