Silicon Labs expands award-winning xG22 platform with optimized 32-bit MCUs for IoT edge applications

Silicon Labs announced the EFM32PG22 (PG22) 32-bit microcontroller (MCU), a low-cost, high-performance solution with industry-leading low power, performance and security. With its easy-to-use and high-accuracy analog functions, the PG22 is ideal for rapid development of size-constrained consumer and industrial applications where low-power operation is critical.

"Demand for high-volume, low-power Internet of Things (IoT) products has been growing rapidly," said Matt Saunders, vice president of IoT at Silicon Labs. "The PG22 is a well-designed 32-bit MCU that is priced close to 8-bit MCUs. market, compatible with their wireless counterparts in size and code."

The PG22 is pin- and software-compatible with the award-winning EFR32xG22 wireless SoCs (BG22, MG22, and FG22), allowing designers to take advantage of a scalable embedded platform to simplify product development and improve cost-effectiveness. With the exact same form factor and code as the xG22 SoC, developers can share applications and upgrade products in a plug-and-play fashion to support Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth Low Energy), Zigbee, or proprietary (2.4 GHz) wireless connection.
