Silicon Labs has announced the development of Bluetooth Mesh technology for smart home products

Silicon Labs has announced that its Bluetooth Mesh technology has been selected by Xiaomi (01810.HK) for use in the smart home products released by the company. The products produced by Xiaomi Eco-Chain and using Silicon Labs Bluetooth Mesh technology - covering intelligent lighting products such as smart bulb, smart candle bulb, smart downlight and smart spotlight, which can be controlled by devices such as Xiao Ai Smart alarm clock through Bluetooth Mesh network.

Yanlu Zhang, R&D Director of Xiaomi IOT Platform, said: "Silicon Labs is one of Xiaomi's important technology partners, providing Xiaomi eco-chain companies with best-in-class wireless hardware and software, as well as development tools and local technical support. The multiple Wireless connectivity standards, design flexibility, ease of use and security features of Silicon Labs' Wireless Gecko technology platform enable our ecosystem companies to simplify smart product design and accelerate time to market."

The new smart light products are powered by Silicon Labs' EFR32BG Wireless Gecko system-on-chip (SoC) running the Bluetooth Mesh protocol stack. The Wireless Gecko SoC offers the best combination of performance and features, including high transmission power and + 125oC operating temperature, to meet the design requirements of Xiaomi products.

Matt Johnson, senior vice president and general manager of iot products at Silicon Labs, said: "We are seeing an increasing number of products deployed with Bluetooth Mesh networks in the rapidly growing smart home market in China.
