Silicon Labs' new Matter solution delivers a unified iot connectivity experience

Silicon Labs, a leading provider of chips, software and solutions for a smarter, more connected world, announced the launch of Matter Wireless solutions for the development of Matter end products that support Thread, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth protocols. Matter, formerly known as "Project Connected Home over IP" or "CHIP," aims to provide interoperable, reliable, and secure connectivity across Internet of Things (IoT) devices and networks. By providing a unified connectivity standard for a wide variety of smart home and business applications such as LED bulbs, door locks, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), commercial lighting and access control, Matter simplifies product development and end-user experience. Silicon Labs' Matter solutions enhance the connected product experience across major ecosystems such as Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google.

Matter is a global iot connectivity standard that builds on existing IP connectivity protocols to enable cross-platform iot communication including end products, mobile applications and cloud services. Security is a core feature of Matter, and its architecture makes iot more secure by applying the following best practices:
