The Thunderboard EFR32BG22 of Silicon Labs is a small, low-cost, feature rich prototype and development platform based on EFR32 wireless gecko system on chip. This board is an ideal platform for developing energy friendly IoT devices, with Bluetooth demonstration attached. It can work with cloud connected smart phone applications to demonstrate easy collection of environment and motion sensor data, as well as button and LED control.

The board is an ideal platform for developing energy-friendly iot devices and comes with a Bluetooth demo that works with a cloud-connected smartphone app to demonstrate easy collection of environmental and motion sensor data, as well as buttons and LED controls.

Programming BG22 mineboards is easy using USB Micro-B cables and the on-board J-Link debugger. The USB virtual COM port provides a serial connection to the target application, and the packet tracking interface (PTI) provides valuable debugging information about packets sent and received over a wireless link.

An 8 megabit serial flash memory is included on the motherboard, which can be used for over-the-air (OTA) firmware upgrades, or as general purpose, non-volatile memory. BG22 Thunderboard is supported in Simplicity Studio, and a Board Support Package (BSP) is available to give application developers a quick start.
