Silicon Motion Technology Corporation introduces Osprey Visual Internet of Things platform

     Silicon Motion Technology Corporation announced the launch of its new Osprey Visual Internet of Things platform solution designed for industrial and thin client devices. Osprey's versatile, all-in-one design with low power consumption makes it ideal for devices and Internet of Things (IoT) components that require a power connection, including POS/ self-service machines, factory automation, digital signage and portable medical devices that require high reliability and power efficiency.

     "The Osprey platform will help our customers accelerate the launch of a new generation of industrial and commercial connectivity products, enabling further improvements in functionality and performance," said Arnold Estep, associate product manager for Silicon Motion's graphics division.

     The versatile, all-in-one design of the Osprey Visual IoT platform is based on Intel's Quark SoC X1000 processor technology, integrated with Silicon Motion SM750 embedded graphics controller and Ferri-eMMC storage solution on a 107mm×115mm compact board. Intel® Quark X1000 SoC has a complete set of standard I/O interfaces, including Ethernet, USB host, USB client, UART, SPI, I2C and GPIO. The Silicon Motion SM750 embedded graphics controller supports multiple HD display outputs, while the Ferri-eMMC meets the eMMC/JEDEC 4.5 industry standard specifications for industry-leading storage performance.
