Silicon Motion introduces the latest PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 main control chip

Silicon Motion has announced a series of new ultra-high performance, low power PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 master control chip solutions to meet the full range of market needs, including the SM2264 designed for high-end flagship Client SSDS and the SM2267 developed for the mainstream SSD market. And the SM2267XT DRAM-Less master chip for entry-level new small size applications.

Silicon Motion has announced a series of new ultra-high performance, low power PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 master control chip solutions to meet the full range of market needs, including the SM2264 designed for high-end flagship Client SSDS and the SM2267 developed for the mainstream SSD market. And the SM2267XT DRAM-Less master chip for entry-level new small size applications.

 

Silicon Motion's latest SSD master chip solution is PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 compliant and delivers the ultra-high performance and low power of Gen4, combined with Silicon Motion's exclusive error code correction (ECC) technology, data path and EMI protection. Provides complete and stable data protection to meet the efficient and stable requirements of storage devices. Around the world, 10 heavyweight customers, including NAND manufacturers and SSD Oems, have launched new products with 3D TLC or QLC NAND on the Gen 4 master chip from Huirong Technology.

PCIe Gen4 solutions for high performance and automotive grades: The SM2264 supports Gen4×4 channels and 8 NAND channels

Targeted primarily at high-performance and auto-grade SSD applications, the SM2264 features a quad-core ARM® Cortex®-R8 CPU, four 16Gb/s PCIe data buses, and eight NAND channels, each capable of up to 1,600 MT per second. The advanced architecture of the SM2264 uses a 12nm process to dramatically increase data transfer rates, reduce power consumption, and provide tighter data protection, with continuous read/write performance of up to 7,400MBs/6,800 MBs and random read/write speeds of up to 1,000K IOPS, providing users with unprecedented high performance.

 

The ARM® Cortex®-R8 architecture provides high-speed multithreading to meet the mixed workload demands of next-generation storage applications. The SM2264 is powered by the latest 7th-generation NANDXtend® technology, combined with Silicon Motion's patented new high-performance 4KB LDPC error correcting code (ECC) engine and RAID capabilities to provide excellent error correcting capabilities for the latest generation of 3D TLC and QLC NAND. The SM2264 with built-in SR-IOV capability is also ideal for vehicle-grade storage, providing a direct high-speed PCIe interface to up to eight virtual machines (VMS) simultaneously. SM2264 is currently in the customer sample delivery stage.

 

Solutions for mainstream and entry-level PCIe Gen4: SM2267 supports Gen4×4 channels, 4 NAND channels design; The SM2267XT supports GEN4x4 channels, 4 NAND channels, and DRAM-less

Silicon Motion's SM2267 and SM2267XT meet the needs of mainstream consumer and cost-effective SSD applications with four PCIe 16Gb/s channels and four NAND channels, each with a maximum speed of 1,200MT/s. Continuous read and write performance is up to 3,900/3,500MB per second. The SM2267 includes a DRAM interface, while the SM2267XT DRAM-LESS master chip can meet the needs of small product designs without compromising performance. Both are powered by NANDXtend® ECC technology and support the latest generation of 3D TLC and QLC NAND, providing the most cost-effective PCIe NVMe SSD solution with high performance, high reliability.
