Single row 1.27mm connectors and cable assemblies for industrial and electric vehicle applications

     Harwin has expanded the control range of its industrial board-to-board interconnect (BBi) by adding single-row connectors and cables to the 1.27mm pitch (0.05 ") connector. The series is designed to bridge the gap between high-end connectors and established pin head and socket solutions.

     The release adds to the company's existing two-row control connectors, expanding the range of 49 new products to include 21 SMT connectors and 28 double-ended cable assemblies, including 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12-pin count options.

     All new SMT connectors in the series are available with vertical (male only) or horizontal (male female only) mounting options, including full sheathing and recessed contacts to prevent damage to the pins. To strengthen the assembly, the connectors have been polarized to prevent mismatches and also have tolerance for deviation, allowing linear deviation up to 0.075mm and a permitted deviation Angle of 4.3°.

     The latch design allows for toolless fit and non-fit, while surface mount labeling has been implemented to enhance retention of connectors to the PCB. Positioning nails are also included to help correct plate placement and inhibit movement while welding. The new male/female double-ended cable assembly includes in-line connectors and UL-specification 26 AWG ribbon cables available in 150mm and 300mm options. As with SMT connectors, full coverage, latching and polarization have been implemented to protect contacts and enhance safety and blind fit.

     The new single-bank products meet the same high electrical and reliability specifications as the existing control series, with A current rating of 1.2A per contact and a contact resistance of 25mOhm. The connectors can perform up to 500 mating operations, operate in the 170 ° C temperature range (-55 ° C to +125 ° C, board-to-board /-20 ° C to 105 ° C cable-to-board and cable-to-cable) and have been tested to withstand 20G vibration forces for up to 12 hours.

     All connectors can automate the assembly process in tape and reel packaging, including one-time pick and place caps where needed.
