Socionext launches new time-sensitive network IP to advance smart factory construction

     Socionext Inc., a leader in SoC design and application technology, announced the successful development of a Time Sensitive Network (TSN) IP based on FPGA and ASIC circuits. The IP is compliant with the next generation Ethernet TSN (communications standard IEEE 802.1 Subset) and its evaluation environment, which is designed to provide deterministic Ethernet for industrial applications.

    Socionext has more than 30 years of experience in the design and development of high-speed network SOCs and IP, and looks forward to helping advance the Industrial Internet of Things by providing the latest industrial Ethernet solutions. The company's newly developed high-performance TSN IP demonstrates outstanding performance, including support for a two-port Daisy chain topology suitable for communication between industrial devices, high-speed operation of 1 Gbps, low latency below 400 ns, and low jitter below 0.1 microseconds (μs).

     In addition to supporting TSN, the IP technology can also support motion controllers requiring fast response control, as well as remote I/O used in network communications to ensure bandwidth and low latency, to meet the requirements of various industrial equipment. TSN supports seamless interoperation between information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), improving overall factory efficiency and productivity, and advancing the realization of smart factories.

     On the product delivery side, Socionext will provide FPGA evaluation boards for IP testing, startup manuals, and Linux open source drivers to help users quickly evaluate and develop.
