Stmicro's ALED6000 monolithic vehicle gauge LED driver with integrated DC/DC converter is a flexible, low-BOM (bill of material cost) automotive lighting solution that ensures consistent lighting intensity when internal electrical conditions fluctuate.
The ALED6000 is designed to drive external vehicle lighting systems, such as daytime running lights, headlights, taillights, brake lights and turn lights, as well as internal lighting. A single string of LED drive current is up to 3A and the input voltage range is wide, from 4.5V to 61V.
ALED6000 implements a digital lighting function, providing a PWM control signal special pin, an enable pins, and a synchronous pins that ensure that multiple device applications are low. The accuracy of the output current is less than 3.2%, and the output current is detected by a currently dropped current with a typical voltage of 250mV. The static current is extremely low, only 2.4mA in the working mode, and the shutdown mode is only 11µA. The ALED6000 also has VBIAS auxiliary input pins and light load pulse jump operations to ensure that high -energy work is maintained throughout the load range.
The power converter on the film supports three topology three topology of antihypertensive, voltage voltage/boost/booster and floating voltage, allowing the driver to supply flexibly the working voltage higher than or lower than the input voltage LED lights, and at the same time treat the fluctuation of the power supply voltage. In addition, if the input voltage drops to near or lower than the default output, the converter will switch to a low voltage drop mode with a duty cycle of nearly 100%.
If an overcurrent condition occurs, the ALED6000 will activate the pulse protection mode and limit the output current to the maximum preset value. In addition, there is also a programmable soft startup circuit used to limit waves and thermal protection functions with automatic recovery function. You can use the external component to set the output -limiting and converter switching frequency, and then combined with a low ESR capacitor to optimize the performance of the inductor to achieve high energy efficiency, rapid dynamic response, small size and low output ripples.
The ALED6000 car LED driver certified by AEC-Q100 has been mass-produced and is encapsulated by HTSSOP16. Designers can use Steval-Ill089V1 evaluation kit to speed up the project development progress.
