Stmicro introduces new RF LDMOS power transistor

     Stmicro's STPOWER LDMOS transistor family has recently expanded into three different product lines, all optimized for a wide range of commercial and industrial RF power amplifiers (PA).The product features of STPOWER LDMOS are high energy efficiency and low thermal resistance. The packaging chip can handle high RF power, with short conduction channels and high breakdown voltage. These features make the RF power amplification solution cost-effective, low power consumption and high reliability.

     The new STPOWER LDMOS IDCH and IDDE series are 28V/32V common-source N-channel enhanced transverse-diffused metal oxide field-effect RF power transistors, which extend the range of targeted applications. The IDCH family has a power output of 8W to 300W and is specifically designed for applications operating at the highest frequency of 4GHz, including 2.45GHz industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) equipment, wireless infrastructure, satellite communications, avionics and radar equipment. This series of LDMOS devices is suitable for all types of modulation formats.

     The IDDE family contains 10W-700W products for commercial, industrial and scientific broadband communications at frequencies up to 1.5GHz, withstands 10:1 load VSWR(voltage standing wave ratio) at all phases, is suitable for all typical signal modulation formats, and is also suitable for most classes of RF power amplification, including Classes A, AB and C. High energy efficiency minimizes the electrical energy required to reach the target power output, reduces work costs and heat dissipation, simplifies thermal management design, and enables more compact systems.

     The new 50V common-source N-channel enhanced transverse field-effect RF power transistor is also available for the STMICRO IDEV family. IDEV's product portfolio has an output power range of 15W to 2.2kW and is designed for industrial, scientific and medical devices with frequencies up to 250MHz. It includes driving high-power CO2 lasers, plasma generators, MRI systems, broadcast FM radio transmitters from 88MHz to 108MHz, As well as avionics and radar at frequencies up to 1.5GHz. The series is applicable to all typical modulation formats as well as class A, AB and C power amplifiers.

     The powerful IDEV family is capable of delivering up to 2.2kW continuous wave (CW) output power in the HF (3-30 MHZ) to 250MHz frequency range and uses only one ceramic package, thus reducing the total number of RF power transistors required for high-power applications such as broadcast transmitters. With an energy efficiency of more than 82%, this helps to minimize the system's power requirements and ensures that the system works reliably and has a simple thermal management design.

     In total, STMICRO has introduced 30 new STPOWER RF LDMOS products in industry standard packages across these three product lines.
