Stmicroelectronics dual - channel digital signal isolator improves circuit configuration flexibility

     Stmicroelectronics expands its family of dual-channel high-speed digital signal isolators, giving designers more flexibility to optimize board layout. The new STISO620 has two channels in the same direction, with all digital inputs on one side of the barrier and all digital outputs on the other. In addition to the co-directional dual-channel STISO620, the stmicroelectronics digital isolator lineup includes the reverse dual-channel (one channel in each direction) STISO621 and STISO621W. Many applications require the separation of two digital signals and the transmission of the signal across the isolation grid, the transmission direction is flexible. This family of products provides a convenient solution for such applications.

     The isolator line of products is based on stmicroelectronics 6kV thick oxide technology to ensure the robustness of current isolation and maintain electrical isolation performance in the event of system failure and device aging, thus improving the reliability of industrial and consumer applications. Targeted applications include smart grid equipment, utility meters, motor drives, smart building and lighting systems, home appliances, as well as power supplies, inverters, fieldbus isolators, and battery status monitors. These isolators can replace optical couplers for any purpose, ensuring excellent long-term performance of applications.

     Equipped with two Schmidt trigger inputs, the STISO620 provides excellent noise resistance with switching speeds up to 100Mbit/s and pulse width distortion of less than 3ns. STISO620 adopts SO8N narrow-body package, creepage distance and gap values are 4mm, peak pulse withstand voltage (VIOTM) is 4000V, isolation voltage (VISO) is 2830Vrms, and maximum operating isolation voltage (VIOWM) is 849Vrms. Key isolation parameters are tested according to VDE0884-10 and UL 1577 safety standards. All products have passed UL 1577 certification.
