Stmicro has introduced the third generation Bluetooth system chip (SoC), which adds Bluetooth direction-seeking technology for location tracking and real-time positioning.By determining the direction of the Bluetooth Low Power (BLE) signal, the BlueNRG-LPS Bluetooth 5.3 authentication system chip can accurately calculate the direction and position of motion with centimeter accuracy. The new product uses Bluetooth specific technology, including the angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) calculated according to the signal captured by the antenna array. With this function, the new product can now realize various applications of indoor navigation, geographic fence and asset tracking, as well as real-time location lookup of tools, assets and goods.
The streamlined architecture and I/O peripherals, as well as the program and data memory (192KB eFlash and 24KB SRAM, respectively) for lightweight terminal products, make BlueNRG-LPS an ideal choice for cost sensitive and large-scale applications, such as universal wireless sensors, medical devices, car keyless entry systems, remote controls and intelligent remote meters. The new system chip also integrates a high-efficient buck converter and protection circuit, further reducing the bill of materials (BOM) cost, and allowing the use of a cheaper two-layer PCB design.
The architecture supports the latest Bluetooth LE power control specification, and can fine tune the RF output power in 1dBm increments. The maximum output power is+8dBm, which can extend the battery life. In addition, Bluetooth path loss monitoring technology can improve the RF link signal quality, prevent interference, ensure a stable connection, and thus improve device interaction. It can also perform well even in places with many devices. In addition, it can also speed up response time. BlueNRG-LPS supports Bluetooth 5.3 long-distance connection, 2Mbps high-speed data rate, regular broadcast, simultaneous connection and multi role specification to ensure excellent user experience of terminal products. The new product also has a dedicated hardware security function and an encrypted IP core to support developers to enhance information security.
