
Super Micro Computer, a global leader in computing, storage, networking solutions and green computing technologies, announced the launch of the industry's first NEBS (Network Equipment Building System) certified 1U system. Up to four NVIDIA V100 or V100S Tensor Core Gpus are available. This server system is designed for the latest AI, AR/VR, transcoding systems, gaming, and other high-compute workloads, and meets the low latency requirements required for telecommunications environments.
The new 1U system supports redundant AC or DC power (1+1) options and nine 4-cm fans for a robust cooling system that supports a wider temperature range. In addition, the new system offers two hot-swappable 2.5-inch SAS/SATA hard drives and two 2.5-inch built-in hard drive designs. Supports SNMP v3, IPv6, and IPMI for easy management.
Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro, said, "Supermicro is the first to launch 1U servers accelerated with V100 Gpus via NEBS Level 3. The NVIDIA V100 Gpus powered by Supermicro NEBS Level 3 systems will help more customers achieve the performance and scalability that these markets demand."
As the scale of the market transition from 4G to 5G continues to increase, the client (Edge) has more complex and demanding application needs, so the importance of NEBS Level 3 is self-evident. The new system extends the operating temperature to 55°C while meeting the requirements of the NEBS Level 3 GR-1089 and GR-63 series test specifications for external shock resistance, shock resistance, flame retardant and other stringent tests. The server uses a second-generation Intel Xeon scalable processor with a built-in AI-accelerated design, Intel ® Opus ™ persistent memory, and uses NVIDIA Gpus to maximize performance. With this design, mobile operators can upgrade their systems with higher performance Gpus to accelerate voice and data traffic, and bring emerging edge applications and services to market through their servers with stringent reliability standards.
The industry's first Supermicro NEBS Level 3 1U system adds to a portfolio of GPU systems that support demanding workloads while requiring GPU acceleration. In addition to the 1U system, Supermicro offers a wide range of GPU system options, including 2U, 4U and 10U rack sizes with a diverse combination of 2, 4, 6, 10, 16 and 20 Gpus. Each server in this product family supports up to 56 CPU cores, 205 watts of thermal design power (TDP), and 24 built-in DIMMs providing up to 6TB of DDR4-2933 MHz memory. These servers are also equipped with multiple options for NVMe, SAS or SATA drives for maximum performance.
